Oldest Stock Certificate in the World

At 9 september 2010, the discovery of the oldest stock certificate in the world was shown to the public in the "Westerkerk" (West-church) in Enkhuizen (The Netherlands). The certificate is dated September 9, 1606 and has been issued by the United East-Indies Company (V.O.C.) Chamber of Enkhuizen.

Exhibition

Starting September 10 in 2010, the VOC Stock Certificate became the central piece in an exhibition about the VOC in the "Westfries Museum" in Hoorn (NL). Special attention is given to the history of the two West-Friesian chambers of the VOC: Enkhuizen en Hoorn.
